Our Village

Living in Thurnby & Bushby
Thurnby & Bushby
Thurnby and Bushby represent the perfect balance of rural heritage and refined modern living. Steeped in a rich history that dates back centuries, our corner of Leicestershire offers a unique character that makes it one of the region's most desirable locations.
A Shared Heritage
Thurnby & Bushby were combined into a single civil parish in 1935. When they merged in 1935, the parish was formally renamed "Thurnby & Bushby" on 11 November 1999. The Rose & Crown pub demonstrates the divide by having one half in Bushby and one half in Thurnby.
Perfectly Positioned
While we enjoy the tranquility of the Leicestershire countryside and the charm of neighbouring villages, we remain perfectly placed for the city. Being just a few miles from the heart of Leicester, our residents enjoy the best of both worlds: a peaceful, village lifestyle with the culture and convenience of the city within easy reach.
A Living Community
Life here is defined by more than just our beautiful landscapes; it is defined by the people. Through local events, seasonal gatherings, and a shared appreciation for quality of life, Thurnby & Bushby continues to be a premier destination for those seeking an exceptional place to call home.

Story
I noticed that while so much of our lives has moved online, we have lost that tactile connection to the place we live. I started LifeStyle because I believe Thurnby & Bushby deserve something more substantial—a publication that actually reflects the people who live here and the stories that make our village unique.

Lovely Walks
Surrounded by fields there are so many lovely walks, especially Lakeside Court which is all that is left from James Jackson's mansion (a cotton farmer from Philadelphia who settled in Thurnby) See more in the Heritage Trail available here: https://tabslife.uk/heritage-trail-1
Meet Beverley
I have called Thurnby home for 12 years now, and in that time, I have fallen in love with our village. From organising local events to enjoying the community, I feel I contribute to village life.
I launched LifeStyle Magazine as a modern companion to our long-standing TABS newsletter to which I contribute.
My goal is to create something specifically for our growing community - especially those of you settling into the newer developments. While we cherish our village heritage, LifeStyle magazine is here to explore the contemporary side of Thurnby.
